I love photography so much that I have been able to make it a job…lucky. I’m very blessed and lucky. However…there are many days after taking photos all day long that once I sit that camera on the shelf in my studio, I don’t wanna touch it anymore. I just wanna run upstairs and love on my three little girls. Then once I get upstairs I look at them and smile and notice something that has changed about them. A new freckle, a new curl, tooth or word…they are changing before my eyes and by the minute. So then I think, I need to take a picture of them! I don’t want to forget this! and so the cycle begins…. :) I’m a firm believer that if you stay at home or work or do both, you will always find something as a parent that you don’t feel you do right or that you should/could do better.
So this morning when the big girls and the puppies were sleeping at 6:17 am, Solana woke! I went in and pulled her out of the crib, made coffee and of course in that 2 minutes she managed to put both feet in the dogs water bowl. I sat down on the sofa with her and pulled off the wet pj’s and changed her diaper. Then when she sat up I thought…oh my goodness…! look how long she is!! So I ran and grabbed a camera and just followed her around the house for 20 minutes. Love it…love this time! I just wanna soak it all up and never forget.

So here she is. 14 months in all her naked and much loved naked freedom :)

Heritage High School Class of 2010: Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC Senior Photographer

Just a few pics from the big day for Heritage High Class of 2010! Watching this and then thinking back at my stuffy graduation day in the high school gym was kinda funny! Man…if one of us had silly string, a beach ball or TP during the ceremony…we would have been in TROUBLE!!! However, these kids seem to enjoy the event wayyyy more than we did! :) CONGRATS CLASS OF 2010!!!

She TUCKS! Virginia family photographer

As you all know…because I talk about it all the time and have posted videos and photos here before! My daughters compete on a all star cheerleading team in Ashburn VA called Cheer Dynasty. Well M, my oldest is 8 and has been working soooo VERY hard for that next tumbling skill and well, she got it!! SHE TUCKS! WOOHOO!!! CONGRATS M!! :)

Peek a boo!- Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC event Photographer

So…I must admit I kinda sorta feel like a long distant cousin to the H family. I met them when they booked their first session with me with their first son in Dec of 07. Since then, I have watched them grow as a family with lots of sessions! Then a second son and I’ve even been lucky enough to be invited to capture the amazingly special event of both boys being baptized! and let me tell you something when Mrs. H plans an event, she does it right!! :) STUNNING! Both events as well as the entire family!

Baby boy #2 was just baptized last month and while loading the cards I remembered one shot that I couldn’t wait to see on the big screen. Baby boy #1…he decided that he wanted to play big brother from afar and sneak a peek at everyone sitting out front watching!

Late Memorial Day Newborn Post: Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC baby photographer

Yes! I’m late late late! I wanted to blog this newborn ON Memorial Day but what can I say…I have 3 kids! So the fact that I’m getting this done this week, well… I’m proud of myself! :)

When the R family came in, I knew I would fall in love with some of these shots! I don’t care for props that often but when they tell a story or have meaning…well that is different. This little ones daddy is in the U.S Coast Guard and they brought dog tags from his dad! I just think that is so neat! 2 different tags. 3 different generations in one photo. All heros. Past, present and I’m sure future that serve and protect the freedom we live and love everyday.

Of course…You know I always love a good quote!
